Target Information
Vitamin K epoxide reductase complex subunit 1 (VKORC1) is the enzyme responsible for reducing vitamin K 2,3-epoxide to its active form, which is essential for blood clotting.
The reduced form of vitamin K is required for the carboxylation of glutamic acid residues in certain blood-clotting proteins.
Vitamin K deficiency or inhibition by warfarin can lead to fatal bleeding. VKORC1 is sensitive to warfarin, and mutations in this gene are associated with deficiencies in vitamin-K-dependent clotting factors and warfarin resistance in humans and rats.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
