Aurora kinases는 염색체 이동 및 분리 과정에서 미세소관과 결합합니다. AURKB(Aurora B)는 키네토코어 근처의 미세소관, 특히 K-fibers에 위치하며, 염색체 정렬과 분리, 히스톤 변형, 세포질분열에 관여합니다. CPC(Chromosomal Passenger Complex)는 INCENP, survivin, borealin 등의 비효소성 서브유닛을 포함하여 Aurora B의 활성, 위치, 안정성, 기질 특이성을 조절합니다. CPC는 유사분열 동안 두 형태로 존재하며, 하나는 4개 구성요소 모두를 포함하고, 다른 하나는 INCENP와 Aurora B로 구성됩니다. 전자는 염색체 정렬과 세포질분열에, 후자는 히스톤 H3 변형에 관여합니다. Aurora B는 여러 종양(유방암, 대장암 등)에서 과발현되며, Aurora-A kinase와의 피드백 메커니즘이 존재하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
