Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily, which transports various molecules across extra- and intra-cellular membranes.
ABC genes are divided into seven subfamilies: ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, and White.
This protein is part of the MRP subfamily involved in multidrug resistance. It may play a role in the biliary and intestinal excretion of organic anions.
Alternatively spliced variants encoding different isoforms have been described, though not all have been fully characterized.
