Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of total IKK epsilon.

Target Information

IKBKE is an activator of nuclear factor-kappa-B (NF-κB). Overexpression of IKBKE has been observed in breast cancer cells, and suppression of IKBKE induces cell death.
NF-κB is a ubiquitous transcription factor and an essential mediator of gene expression during immune and inflammatory responses. It regulates the expression of numerous genes in response to extracellular stimuli and is inhibited by Ikappa-B proteins in the cytoplasm.
Ikappa-B is phosphorylated by the Ikappa-B kinase (IKK) complex, which includes IKK-α, IKK-β, and IKK-γ. A novel molecule in this complex, IKK-iota (IKK-ι)/IKK-i, also known as IKK epsilon, is required for NF-κB activation by PMA and T cell receptors but not by TNF-α or IL-1.
IKK-iota/IKK-i expression is observed in various tissues and is inducible by TNF-α, IL-1, and LPS.
