Product Specific Information

The V3GYWCH monoclonal antibody reacts with human and mouse interferon regulatory factor 8 (IRF8; ICSBP). IRF8 is a 50 kDa transcription factor critical for dendritic cell (DC) development, especially plasmacytoid DC (pDC) and CD8a+ DC differentiation. IRF8-/- mice lack both pDC and CD8a+ DC populations, while CD8a- DCs remain but fail to mature upon Toll-like receptor signaling.

Target Information

IRF8 (interferon regulatory factor 8) acts as a transcriptional activator or repressor, binding to upstream regulatory regions of type I IFN and IFN-inducible MHC class I genes. It plays a negative regulatory role in immune cells and is essential for CD8+ dendritic cell differentiation through complex formation with BATF-JUNB heterodimer. Mutations in IRF8 can lead to immunodeficiency 32A and 32B.
