Target Information
GRID1 is a subunit of glutamate receptor channels. These channels mediate most of the fast excitatory synaptic transmission in the central nervous system and play key roles in synaptic plasticity. GRID1 acts as a receptor for glutamate, an excitatory neurotransmitter active at many synapses in the CNS. The postsynaptic actions of glutamate are mediated by various receptors named according to their selective agonists.
