Target Information
Tyrosine phosphorylation plays a crucial role in transducing mitogenic signals from transmembrane receptors and in transformation by oncogene tyrosine kinases. Phosphorylation of specific tyrosine residues is a key mechanism in signal transduction during mitogenesis, cell cycle progression, and oncogenic transformation. Its involvement in differentiation and gap junction communication remains under active investigation.
Antibodies specific to phosphorylated tyrosine residues are invaluable for studying tyrosine-phosphorylated proteins and their biochemical pathways. The fluorescein (FITC) conjugate of clone PY20 anti-phosphotyrosine is especially useful for detecting P-Tyr proteins in immunohistochemical and immunocytochemical protocols where secondary antibody use may complicate detection.
