Target Information
Tyrosine phosphorylation plays a key role in transducing mitogenic signals from transmembrane receptors and in oncogene tyrosine kinase–mediated transformation. It is a primary mechanism in signal transduction during normal mitogenesis, cell cycle progression, and oncogenic transformation. Its involvement in differentiation and gap junction communication remains under investigation.
Antibodies that specifically recognize phosphorylated tyrosine residues are invaluable for studying tyrosine-phosphorylated proteins and related biochemical pathways. The fluorescein (FITC) conjugate of clone PY20 anti-phosphotyrosine is particularly useful for detecting P-Tyr proteins in immunohistochemical and immunocytochemical protocols, especially when the use of a secondary antibody would complicate detection.
