Product Specific Information

The 390 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD31 (PECAM-1, gpIIa), a 130–140 kDa surface protein expressed by endothelial cells and at low levels on all leukocytes and platelets. CD31 plays a critical role in adhesion, cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions, and signal transduction. CD38 has been reported to bind to CD31, and homotypic CD31 interactions are important for cellular adhesion and signaling.

Applications Reported:
Flow cytometric analysis and immunohistochemical staining of frozen tissue sections.

Applications Tested:

• Flow cytometry: ≤1 µg/test (defined as the amount of antibody staining a cell sample in 100 µL; 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).
• Immunohistochemistry (Frozen): ≤20 µg/mL.
  Titrate antibody for optimal performance.

Target Information

CD31 (Platelet Endothelial Cell Adhesion Molecule-1, PECAM-1) functions as an inhibitory coreceptor regulating T and B cell signaling via dual ITIM motifs. It is widely expressed in the vascular compartment, primarily at cell junctions. The N-terminal Ig-like domain mediates homophilic binding, crucial for cell-cell interactions. CD31 is involved in integrin-mediated adhesion, transendothelial migration, angiogenesis, apoptosis, immunoregulation, autoimmunity, and thrombosis, serving as a key regulator in the vascular system.
