It plays a role in endosomal protein trafficking, particularly in transferring cargo proteins from early to recycling endosomes.
Required for normal planar cell polarity in ciliated tracheal cells, rotational polarity of cilia, and coordinated unidirectional ciliary movement in the trachea.
Also essential for polarized cilia organization in brain ependymal epithelial cells.
