Product Specific Information
Heat-mediated antigen retrieval is recommended prior to staining, using a 10 mM citrate buffer (pH 6.0) for 10 minutes, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Following antigen retrieval, incubate samples with primary antibody for 10 minutes at room temperature.
A suggested positive control is pancreas tissue.
Target Information
Islet, or insulinoma, amyloid polypeptide (amylin) is commonly found in pancreatic islets of patients with type II diabetes mellitus or insulinoma.
While amylin's association with type II diabetes has been known, its direct causative role remains under study.
Research suggests amylin, similar to beta-amyloid (Abeta) in Alzheimer’s disease, can induce apoptotic cell death in certain cultured cells, which may relate to type II diabetes development.
