Target Information
RNase L is a virally induced endoribonuclease that acts as the terminal factor of the antiviral action of interferon. Activation of RNase L inhibits viral proliferation and degrades RNA, initiating cellular stress responses and apoptosis. Mutations in RNase L are associated with an increased incidence of prostate cancer, suggesting its role in counteracting prostate cancer via apoptosis.
