Target Information
Aurora kinases are associated with microtubules during chromosome movement and segregation. AURKB (Aurora B) localizes to microtubules near kinetochores, specifically to K-fibers. This complex plays roles in chromosome alignment, histone modification, and cytokinesis. The chromosomal passenger complex (CPC) includes INCENP, survivin, and borealin, which regulate Aurora B’s activity and localization. Aurora B is overexpressed in several tumors, including breast and colon cancers, and may interact with Aurora A kinase in a feedback mechanism.
