IRF3 (interferon regulatory factor 3)는 type I interferon (IFN)-의존성 면역 반응의 주요 전사 조절 인자로, DNA 및 RNA 바이러스에 대한 선천적 면역 반응에서 중요한 역할을 합니다. IRF3는 IFN-alpha, IFN-beta 및 IFN-stimulated genes (ISG)의 전사를 조절하며, IFN-beta 유전자의 활성화에 더 강력한 역할을 합니다. 바이러스 감염 또는 double-stranded RNA, toll-like receptor 신호 전달에 의해 IKBKE 및 TBK1에 의해 인산화되어 핵으로 이동하고 CREB binding protein과 결합하여 dsRNA-activated factor 1 (DRAF1) 복합체를 형성, type I IFN 및 ISG 유전자의 전사를 촉진합니다. 해당 유전자 변이는 특정 바이러스 감염 관련 뇌병증을 유발할 수 있습니다.
