Target Information
Histones are basic nuclear proteins responsible for the nucleosome structure of chromosomal fibers in eukaryotes. Nucleosomes consist of approximately 146 bp of DNA wrapped around a histone octamer composed of pairs of H2A, H2B, H3, and H4. These structures compact DNA into chromatin, limiting accessibility for transcription, repair, replication, and stability processes. H2B exhibits broad antibacterial activity.
