Target Information
STING is a 379-amino-acid signaling protein that acts as a key component of innate immune signaling. It activates NF-kappa-B and IRF3 transcription pathways, inducing type I interferons (IFN-alpha and IFN-beta) and promoting an antiviral state. STING may also function as a translocon, influencing interferon induction and apoptotic signal transduction via MHC-II association. It is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and mitochondrial outer membrane, and is ubiquitously expressed across most tissues.
