Target Information
UBA2 is involved in the covalent attachment of one protein to another, a major posttranslational modification. Ubiquitin is the most well-known modifier, and its activation and transfer have been extensively studied. SUMO (Sentrin) is a ubiquitin-like protein implicated in stabilization and localization of target proteins. The conjugation of SUMO-1, SUMO-2, and SUMO-3 onto target proteins requires the coordinated action of the E1-activating enzyme SAE1/SAE2, the E2-conjugating enzyme Ubc9, and an E3-like SUMO ligase.
