MA3-077 detects TATA Binding Protein (TBP)-associated factor 6 (TAF6) in human and mouse samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot applications.
The immunogen is a synthetic peptide coupled to ovalbumin, corresponding to amino acids 39–56 of TAF6.

Target Information

Initiation of transcription by RNA polymerase II requires more than 70 polypeptides. The transcription factor IID (TFIID) complex coordinates these activities by binding to the core promoter, positioning RNA polymerase II, and serving as a scaffold for transcription complex assembly.
TFIID is composed of the TATA-binding protein (TBP) and TBP-associated factors (TAFs). TAFs function in basal transcription, coactivation, promoter recognition, and modification of general transcription factors to facilitate transcription initiation.
The TAF6 gene encodes one of the smaller subunits of TFIID, which binds weakly to TBP but strongly to TAF1. Multiple isoforms exist, with one known to inhibit binding of another TFIID subunit, thereby reducing transcription and initiating apoptosis signaling.
