Target Information
The N-formyl peptide receptor (FPR) family consists of three members: FPR, FPR3 (also known as FPRL1, lipoxin A4 receptor, FPRH1, or FPR2), and FPR like-2 (FPRL2).
These are chemotactic G protein-coupled receptors with seven transmembrane domains, expressed on phagocytic leukocytes such as neutrophils and monocytes.
FPR3 binds multiple ligands including lipoxin A4, N-formyl-methionyl-leucyl-phenylalanine (fMLP), serum amyloid A (SAA), prion peptide, and β-amyloid (42 aa form).
Activation of FPR3 induces migration and calcium mobilization in monocytes and neutrophils, playing roles in inflammation and host defense.
FPR3 is implicated in prion and Alzheimer’s diseases, representing a potential therapeutic target.
