Target Information
The p90 ribosomal S6 kinases (RSKs) form a family of serine/threonine kinases positioned at the terminus of the ERK pathway.
In humans, four isoforms (RSK1–4) exist, each containing two catalytically functional kinase domains activated sequentially by phosphorylation.
RSKs regulate gene expression by phosphorylating transcriptional regulators such as c-Fos, estrogen receptor, NFκB/IκBα, and CREB.
Upon ERK activation, RSK translocates to the nucleus, leading to phosphorylation and activation of transcription factors.
