Target Information

The CCL21 gene encodes a cytokine belonging to the CC chemokine family, located on the p-arm of chromosome 9. These cytokines are secreted proteins involved in immunoregulatory and inflammatory processes.

CCL21 is chemotactic for thymocytes and activated T cells, but not for B cells, macrophages, or neutrophils. It may also mediate lymphocyte homing to secondary lymphoid organs. It serves as a high-affinity ligand for chemokine receptor 7 (CCR7), expressed on T and B lymphocytes.
