Target Information

Leucine-rich repeat transmembrane neuronal proteins (LRRTMs) are differentially expressed in the nervous system and are involved in synaptic differentiation. LRRTM1 and LRRTM2 are particularly potent in inducing presynaptic differentiation. Each LRRTM protein is a type I transmembrane protein containing ten extracellular leucine-rich repeats and a short intracellular tail, with distinct developmental expression patterns. LRRTM1 is a maternally suppressed gene associated paternally with handedness and schizophrenia.
