Target Information
Phospholipid scramblase 1 (PLSCR1) is a calcium-dependent plasma membrane protein that mediates transbilayer movement of phosphatidylserine and other phospholipids upon cytosolic calcium influx. This process contributes to membrane remodeling and phosphatidylserine exposure in apoptotic or injured cells, leading to cell death. PLSCR1 expression is induced by interferons and cytokines, suggesting a role in cytokine signaling. EGF stimulation causes tyrosine phosphorylation of PLSCR1 (Tyr69, Tyr74), enabling interaction with Shc and linking Src kinase activation to EGF receptor signaling.
