Target Information

Neuregulin 1 (NRG1) is a 44-kDa glycoprotein that interacts with the NEU/ERBB2 receptor tyrosine kinase, promoting tyrosine phosphorylation. NRG1 gene produces multiple isoforms (heregulins, glial growth factors, sensory and motor neuron-derived factors) through alternative splicing. These isoforms differ structurally and are tissue-specific. HRG isoforms contain Ig and EGF-like domains, while GGF isoforms include kringle-like sequences plus Ig and EGF-like domains. SMDF shares only the EGF-like domain. All NRG1 isoforms bind to ERBB family receptors, inducing growth and differentiation of epithelial, neuronal, glial, and other cell types.
