Perlecan은 모든 basement membrane과 세포 표면에 존재하는 주요 heparan-sulfate proteoglycan(HSPG)입니다. 성장인자를 저장하고 보호하는 역할을 하며, 종양 세포 성장과 전이 조절에 관여합니다. 기본 섬유아세포 성장인자(FGF-2)의 보조수용체로 작용하여 혈관신생 및 성장 촉진 기능을 가지고 있습니다. Perlecan 억제는 신생물 성장과 신생혈관 생성을 현저히 감소시키며, 종양 진행의 핵심 조절 인자로서 치료적 타겟으로 주목받고 있습니다.
