Target Information
Integrin alpha 4 (CD49d, ITGA4) is a member of the integrin alpha chain family of proteins. Integrins are heterodimeric membrane proteins composed of alpha and beta subunits. The alpha 4 chain pairs with beta1 or beta7 chains, forming integrin α4β1 or α4β7 complexes. Ligands include MadCAM, VCAM, and fibronectin. MadCAM is the principal ligand for α4β7, and HIV-1 envelope proteins can mimic MadCAM by binding to integrin α4β7, influencing T cell homing in gut mucosa.
