CD16은 면역글로불린 G의 Fc 부분을 인식하는 수용체를 암호화하며, 순환계 내 면역 복합체 제거 및 세포 매개 세포독성, 바이러스 감염 증진 등 다양한 기능에 관여합니다.
이 유전자는 FCGR3A로 명명되며, 염색체 1에 위치한 유사 유전자 FCGR3B와 높은 유사성을 가집니다.
FCGR3A는 NK 세포에서 막관통 펩타이드에 의해 고정된 막당단백질로 발현되며, FCGR3B는 다형핵 백혈구(PMN)에서 인산이노시톨(PI) 결합을 통해 고정됩니다.
이 유전자의 돌연변이는 면역결핍증 20과 관련이 있으며, 반복적인 바이러스 감염, 전신성 홍반루푸스, 신생아 동종면역성 호중구감소증과 연관되어 있습니다.
