It acts as a cell adhesion molecule found on leukocytes, epithelia, and endothelia, mediating both homophilic and heterophilic interactions.
CEACAM1 participates in tissue differentiation, angiogenesis, apoptosis, tumor suppression, metastasis, and immune modulation.
Multiple transcript variants exist, with two full-length isoforms characterized.
