Product Specific Information
For immunohistochemistry on PFA-fixed tissues, incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Cytokeratin 19 is part of a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins characterized by biochemical diversity. Human epithelial tissues express at least 20 different cytokeratin polypeptides, ranging from 40–68 kDa in molecular weight and isoelectric pH 4.9–7.8. Cytokeratin subtype expression patterns help distinguish epithelial malignancies and are valuable in tumor differential diagnosis, cytopathology, and flow cytometry. Cytokeratin 19 is not expressed in hepatocytes, making it useful for identifying liver metastasis.
