Target Information
The ABCC12 gene is a member of the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily. The encoded protein contains two ATP-binding domains and 12 transmembrane regions. ABC proteins transport various molecules across extra- and intracellular membranes.
ABC genes are divided into seven subfamilies: ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, and White.
This gene belongs to the MRP subfamily, which is associated with multi-drug resistance. It is located on chromosome 16q12.1 and is arranged head-to-tail with another subfamily member. Increased expression of this gene has been linked to breast cancer.
