Target Information
The ATP7B gene encodes a P-type cation transport ATPase with multiple membrane-spanning domains, an ATPase consensus sequence, hinge domain, phosphorylation site, and copper-binding sites. The protein functions as a monomer that exports copper from cells, including hepatic copper efflux into bile. Alternative splice variants produce isoforms with distinct localizations. Mutations in ATP7B are associated with Wilson disease (WD).
