Target Information
Copper (Cu) is a crucial trace metal acting as a cofactor for many mammalian enzymes. Genetic diseases such as Menkes and Wilson disease result from disrupted Cu homeostasis. CTR1 is a high-affinity copper-uptake protein; its C-terminal domain resembles the Raf family kinases, while the N-terminal region encodes a novel domain. CTR1 mediates copper uptake, influencing Cu homeostasis and embryonic development.
