E-Cadherin (epithelial cadherin)은 칼슘 의존적 세포-세포 부착 단백질로, cadherin 초가족에 속합니다. 이 단백질은 다섯 개의 세포외 cadherin 반복, 막관통 영역, 그리고 보존된 세포질 꼬리로 구성된 당단백질입니다.
CDH1 유전자는 인간 16번 염색체에 위치하며, E-cadherin의 발현 감소 또는 소실은 암세포의 침습성과 전이 가능성과 관련이 있습니다. 또한 세포 구조 유지 및 조직 무결성에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
