This antibody recognizes a defined epitope (aa 65–97) on the N-terminal structural domain of alpha-tubulin.
Target Information
Alpha Tubulin is a part of a heterodimer consisting of alpha and beta tubulin subunits. These subunits (~55 kDa each) form the basic building blocks of microtubules, which are cylindrical filamentous structures present in nearly all eukaryotic cells. Microtubules provide structural support, serve as intracellular transport tracks, and play essential roles in mitosis.
Multiple alpha and beta tubulin genes are highly conserved among species. The alpha tubulin gene is highly similar to the mouse and rat Tuba1 gene, with expression predominantly found in differentiated neurologic cells.
