Target Information
3’,5’-cyclic nucleotides cAMP and cGMP act as second messengers in diverse signal transduction pathways. 3’,5’-cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases (PDEs) hydrolyze cAMP and cGMP into 5’-monophosphates, providing a mechanism to downregulate cyclic nucleotide signaling.
The PDE11A gene encodes a member of the PDE protein superfamily. Mutations in this gene are associated with Cushing disease and adrenocortical hyperplasia. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
