Target Information
The DIAPH1 gene is a homolog of the Drosophila diaphanous gene and has been associated with autosomal dominant, fully penetrant, nonsyndromic sensorineural progressive low-frequency hearing loss.
Actin polymerization involves proteins interacting with diaphanous protein in Drosophila and mouse, suggesting a possible regulatory role in actin polymerization in inner ear hair cells.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene.
