Target Information

CHEK2 (CHK2) is a serine/threonine kinase involved in the DNA damage checkpoint pathway. Mutations in CHK2 have been associated with various cancers. Upon DNA damage, CHK2 is activated and phosphorylates several cell cycle regulators, including tumor suppressor proteins such as BRCA1, aiding in cell survival after DNA damage. CHK2 functions as a tumor suppressor, with mutations linked to Li-Fraumeni syndrome, sarcomas, breast cancer, and brain tumors.
