Target Information
Liver X receptors (LXRA and LXRB) are members of the nuclear receptor superfamily and play a key role in macrophage function by regulating transcriptional programs involved in lipid homeostasis and inflammation.
LXRA is highly expressed in liver, adrenal gland, intestine, adipose tissue, macrophages, lung, and kidney, while LXRB is ubiquitously expressed.
Ligand-activated LXRs form heterodimers with retinoid X receptors and regulate expression of genes containing LXR response elements.
