This antibody detects endogenous levels of total PTPRN2 protein.
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family. PTPs act as signaling molecules that regulate various cellular processes including growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation.
This receptor-type PTP contains an extracellular region, a single transmembrane region, and a single intracellular catalytic domain. Its catalytic domain is closely related to PTPRN (IA-2β). Both PTPRN2 and PTPRN are major autoantigens associated with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus.
Three alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct proteins have been reported.
