Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of LPIN1 only when phosphorylated at Thr14.
Target Information
The Lipin family of nuclear proteins includes Lipin-1, Lipin-2, and Lipin-3, all of which contain a nuclear signal sequence, a conserved amino-terminal (NLIP) domain, and a carboxy-terminal (CLIP) domain.
LPIN1 (Lipin-1) is essential for normal adipose tissue development and metabolism. It selectively activates PGC-1A target pathways such as fatty acid oxidation and mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation by inducing expression of the nuclear receptor PPARA.
LPIN1 also suppresses lipogenic programs and circulating lipid levels. Overexpression promotes fat accumulation and insulin sensitivity, while deficiency may lead to insulin resistance and lipodystrophy characterized by loss of body fat, fatty liver, and hypertriglyceridemia.
