WNK1 serine/threonine kinase는 WNK 서브패밀리에 속하며, 나트륨 및 염화이온 수송 조절을 통해 혈압 조절에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
이 유전자의 돌연변이는 가성저알도스테론증 II형 및 유전성 감각신경병증 II형과 관련이 있습니다.
WNK1은 전해질 항상성, 세포 신호전달, 생존 및 증식 조절에 관여하며, sodium-coupled chloride cotransporter와 potassium-coupled chloride cotransporter의 활성 조절자로 작용합니다.
또한 SCNN1A, SCNN1B, SCNN1D, SGK1을 활성화하며, 신장의 원위 네프론 부위에 위치하여 염, 칼륨 및 pH 항상성 유지에 관여합니다.
Mutations in the WNK gene are associated with pseudohypoaldosteronism and neuropathy.
