Target Information
Vasodilator-stimulated phosphoprotein (VASP) is a member of the Ena-VASP protein family. These proteins contain an EVH1 N-terminal domain that binds E/DFPPPPXD/E motif-containing proteins, targeting them to focal adhesions. The mid-region includes a proline-rich domain interacting with SH3 and WW domain-containing proteins, while the C-terminal EVH2 domain mediates tetramerization and binds both G and F actin.
VASP is implicated in filamentous actin formation, cell adhesion, and motility, and may participate in intracellular signaling regulating integrin–extracellular matrix interactions. It is regulated by cyclic nucleotide-dependent kinases PKA and PKG.
