Product Specific Information

This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD54 (ICAM-1), an 85–110 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein that serves as a receptor for rhinovirus. It is expressed on activated endothelial cells, T and B lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, granulocytes, and dendritic cells. Expression is upregulated upon cellular activation.

Target Information

ICAM-1 (CD54) is an 85–110 kDa single-chain type I integral membrane glycoprotein with five immunoglobulin-like domains, a transmembrane region, and a cytoplasmic tail. It has seven potential N-linked glycosylation sites and shares sequence homology with ICAM-2 (CD102) and ICAM-3 (CD50).
ICAM-1 binds integrins CD11a/CD18 (LFA-1) and CD11b/CD18 (Mac-1), and serves as a receptor for rhinovirus. It is expressed on activated endothelial cells, epithelial cells, fibroblasts, chondrocytes, B and T lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, and neutrophils. Expression increases during inflammation and can also be found in some carcinoma and melanoma cells. Soluble ICAM-1 is detectable in plasma and elevated in various inflammatory conditions.
