Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of CD10 (CALLA - Common Acute Lymphatic Leukemia Antigen), a 100 kDa type II integral membrane protein.
Target Information
CD10 (Common Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia Antigen, CALLA) is a cell surface enzyme with neutral metalloendopeptidase activity that inactivates various biologically active peptides. It is expressed on cells of lymphoblastic, Burkitt’s, and follicular germinal center lymphomas, immature B cells in adult bone marrow, and cells from patients with chronic myelocytic leukemia (CML).
CD10 is also found on breast myoepithelial cells, bile canaliculi, fibroblasts, and is highly expressed on the brush border of kidney and gut epithelial cells. It functions as a neutral endopeptidase that cleaves peptides at the amino side of hydrophobic residues, inactivating peptide hormones such as glucagon, enkephalins, substance P, neurotensin, oxytocin, and bradykinin.
CD10 is a 100 kDa type II transmembrane glycoprotein existing as a single-copy gene (>45 kb). The 5′ untranslated region is alternatively spliced into four mRNA transcripts, without affecting the coding region.
Diseases associated with CD10 dysfunction include spinocerebellar ataxia 43 and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
