Target Information
The TNFRSF11B gene encodes a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily. This protein acts as an osteoblast-secreted decoy receptor and negatively regulates bone resorption. It binds specifically to osteoprotegerin ligand, both key regulators of osteoclast development. Mouse studies suggest roles in lymph-node organogenesis and vascular calcification. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been reported but not fully characterized.
