Target Information

Protocadherin 1 (PCDH1), also known as cadherin-like protein 1, is a transmembrane protein involved in cell-cell adhesion.
It belongs to the delta1-protocadherin group (including protocadherin-1, -7, -9, and -11(X/Y)), characterized by seven extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane domain, and a cytoplasmic domain.
Two isoforms (short and long) are expressed in various tissues, regulated both temporally and spatially.

In mice, PCDH1 is expressed in the brain, spinal cord, peripheral ganglia, inner ear, hair follicles, kidney, reproductive organs, prostate, and seminal gland.
In humans, PCDH1 is a susceptibility gene for Bronchial Hyperresponsiveness and is also expressed in human pluripotent stem cells.
