• For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below.
• Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
• Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
• Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid.
• Dilute only prior to immediate use.

Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-rabbit serum, purified and partially purified Superoxide Dismutase (Bovine Erythrocytes). Cross-reactivity with other tissues or species may occur but has not been determined.

Target Information

SOD1 (superoxide dismutase) binds copper and zinc ions and is one of two isozymes responsible for destroying free superoxide radicals in the body.
This isozyme is a soluble cytoplasmic protein that acts as a homodimer to convert harmful superoxide radicals into molecular oxygen and hydrogen peroxide.
The other isozyme is a mitochondrial protein.
Mutations in this gene are associated with familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Rare transcript variants have also been reported.
