Product Specific Information

Description:
The SK3 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD4, a 59-kDa cell surface receptor expressed by thymocytes, T helper cells, and monocytes. CD4 acts as a receptor for HIV, and SK3 blocks HIV binding and mixed lymphocyte reactions. SK3 and RPA-T4 recognize distinct epitopes.

Applications Reported:
This SK3 (SK-3) antibody is suitable for flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and tested on normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.125 µg)/test.
A test corresponds to staining in a final volume of 100 µL, with 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.

Target Information

CD4 antigen recognizes MHC class II molecules and acts as a co-receptor for HIV. It is primarily expressed in T helper cells but also found in monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. CD4 expression is observed in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and other tissues. It contributes to T-cell activation via association with the T-cell receptor complex and Lck kinase, and may mediate neuronal damage in immune-related CNS diseases.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
