Product Specific Information

The UCHT2 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD5, a 67 kDa protein expressed by most thymocytes, mature T cells, and a subset of B cells. CD5 signaling activates T cells and mediates T-B cell interactions via binding to CD72 on B cells.
The UCHT2 clone recognizes primate CD5.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested for flow cytometry using normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended use: 5 µL (0.5 µg) per 100 µL test volume. Suitable for 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.

Target Information

CD5 is a 67 kDa single-chain transmembrane glycoprotein present on all mature T-lymphocytes, most thymocytes, and many T-cell leukemias and lymphomas. It also reacts with a subset of activated B cells and may regulate T-cell proliferation. CD5 is found on 95% of thymocytes and about 72% of peripheral blood lymphocytes. In lymph nodes, reactivity is mainly in T cell areas.
Diseases associated with CD5 dysfunction include thymus cancer and Richter's Syndrome.
