Target Information
The Ku80 protein is the 80-kDa subunit of the Ku heterodimer, also known as ATP-dependent DNA helicase II or DNA repair protein XRCC5. Ku functions as the DNA-binding component of the DNA-dependent protein kinase and plays a crucial role in DNA double-strand break repair via non-homologous end joining and V(D)J recombination. Mutations in this gene can lead to defects in DNA repair and are associated with variations in radiosensitivity and cancer susceptibility.
